What We Do

Tactical Ceramic Finishes for Firearms, Optics & Defense Components

Advanced Coatings is a Certified Cerakote Applicator based in Redmond, Oregon, producing tactical-grade finishes for defense-sector manufacturers and individual customers across the US and Canada. Our mil-spec coatings bond hard to metal and polymer, delivering abrasion, corrosion, and chemical resistance without adding meaningful thickness to close-tolerance parts. Clients like Anderson Manufacturing, Spike’s Tactical, and Rainier Arms rely on us for consistent color matching across production volumes.

We apply the full tactical color palette: Flat Dark Earth, OD Green, Sniper Grey, Matte Black, Tungsten, and multi-color camo and multicam patterns. Every job runs through a full media-blast prep and oven-cure cycle, so the finish performs under field conditions, not just out of the box. The same Cerakote chemistry we apply to OEM production firearms is used on every single-item custom order.

Our Redmond facility handles both high-volume OEM production and one-off custom work, so the process scales to your project. Turnaround, color-match batch control, and shipping anywhere in the US are all part of the standard offering.

Surface Engineering

Built for Harsh-Use Environments

Tactical and duty finishes earn their keep in the field. We tie prep quality to real-world resistance: a media-blasted surface profile, coating chemistry matched to the application, and a controlled cure so finishes stand up to abrasion, solvents, chemicals, and hard use.

Full Tactical Color Palette

Full Tactical Color Palette

Flat Dark Earth, OD Green, Sniper Grey, Matte Black, Tungsten, and more. The standard tactical palette is stocked and ready; custom color blends and two-tone combinations are quoted on request. We color-match across production batches so OEM customers get consistent results run to run.

Camo, Multicam & Custom Patterns

Camo, Multicam & Custom Patterns

Multi-color camo, multicam, and custom pattern work applied by hand masking and precision stencil. We match standard pattern palettes or work from customer-specified color sets. Pattern work is available on rifles, pistols, chassis, and accessories. Every masked area is prepped and cured to the same standard as a solid-color finish.

Abrasion, Corrosion & Chemical Resistance

The ceramic finishes we apply start with a full media-blast prep cycle that removes oils, oxides, and surface contamination before coating. The cured finish resists salt, sweat, solvents, holster wear, and the environmental exposure that destroys painted and parkerized surfaces. Hard-use durability is built into the process, not just the chemistry.

Optics, Suppressors & Small Components

We coat scopes, mounts, suppressors, handguards, triggers, and other components, not just receivers and barrels. Parts that need to stay glare-free and corrosion-resistant get the same full prep as the host firearm. Disassembly and glass protection are handled in-house when needed; contact us if you have questions about a specific part.

Trusted by Tactical Firearms
& Defense Manufacturers

Anderson Manufacturing, Spike’s Tactical, Rainier Arms, and Sionics are among the defense-sector OEMs that send production volume to our Redmond, Oregon facility. We produce mil-spec finishes at scale for manufacturers who ship to dealers, distributors, and customers across the US, Canada, and overseas. Production volume, repeatable color matching, and reliable turnaround are the baseline here, not extras. Our Cerakote application capabilities cover both high-volume OEM runs and single-item custom orders through the same prep-and-cure process.

Common Questions

Mil-Spec Coatings Questions

What colors and finishes do you offer for tactical work?
We carry the full tactical palette: Flat Dark Earth, OD Green, Sniper Grey, Matte Black, Tungsten, and more, plus multi-color camo and multicam patterns. Custom color blends are available on request. If you have a specific color or pattern in mind, include it when you request a quote.

The ceramic coatings we apply are engineered for abrasion, corrosion, and chemical resistance. Our prep process, including media blasting and surface cleaning, is what drives long-term adhesion. The finish holds up to field use, solvents, holster wear, and environmental exposure better than bluing or parkerizing. We do not publish specific test numbers, but the chemistry is proven on production firearms.

Yes. We coat scopes, mounts, suppressors, handguards, triggers, and other components in addition to receivers and barrels. Parts need to be disassembled and sent clean (no oil), or we can handle disassembly and prep for an additional charge. Optics with glass elements need the glass protected or removed before coating; contact us if you are unsure.

We take both. Single custom orders and full production runs go through the same prep and coating process. Volume OEM customers benefit from consistent color-match batching and scheduled production cycles. Individual customers get the same quality. Every job is quoted individually.

Fill out our contact form with your parts list, desired finish, and any pattern details. We respond with a quote within 24 hours on business days. Most projects ship within 5–10 business days after parts are received, though production runs and custom patterns may take longer.
H-Series Cerakote is polymer-based and oven-cured; it is the standard choice for most firearms, handguards, and accessories. C-Series is a solvent-based formula that air-cures at room temperature and handles higher sustained heat, making it the right choice for barrel exteriors, muzzle devices, and suppressors that see repeated high-temperature cycling. We select the correct formula for each part. If you are unsure which applies to your component, tell us the part and its application when you request a quote and we will specify it for you.

Yes. We ship finished parts to customers across the US, Canada, and internationally. Most individual customers ship their parts to our Redmond, Oregon facility using a tracked carrier, and we ship back once the coating is complete. OEM clients on production cycles typically coordinate scheduled shipping. Include your location and preferred carrier in your quote request if you have specific shipping requirements.

Cerakote is widely applied to suppressors and other NFA items. We coat suppressors regularly using the C-Series high-temp formula on components that see sustained heat. NFA items must be shipped in compliance with applicable federal and state laws; that responsibility is on the customer, not us. If you have questions about coating a specific suppressor or other regulated item, contact us before shipping.
